Our History
A Tradition of Excellence Continues
The Honorable Gordon Lee, seventh district congressman from Georgia began the “Tradition of Excellence” when he left the land & funding to build a high school for the community. His gesture of “giving back” allows children nearly 100 years later to continue in this tradition of excellence in education.
Without the support of our generous alumni, the GLAA could not assist with filling the needs of our growing school system. Thank you for contributing to the “The Spirit of Giving Back.” Wishing you and yours all the best through the holidays and a very prosperous New Year
Established in 1990, the Gordon Lee Alumni Association & Foundation in service and fundraising supports scholastic and extra-curricular programs for the Chickamauga City School System. Since 2012, the Alumni Association has contributed over $271,000 to help all three schools. The money has helped purchase various items including band uniforms, athletic equipment, new computers and smartboards for CES and GLMS as well as several other things.
We have also awarded $27,000 in scholarships for graduating seniors and alumni furthering their academic careers since our Scholarship Program began in 2013.
This year the Alumni Association is running a Capital Campaign to aid in the purchase of a small activity bus that will benefit the entire school system.
